The International Code Council (ICC) is a group of code officials that meet every 3 years. Once the ICC decides on a new code, most states within the US and many international legislative bodies will adopt this measure.
This year, the ICC brought forth Proposal F280-24, which affects short-term rentals. This proposal would require most short-term rental operators to obtain a permit for their listing and submit an extensive safety plan. Many hosts would also be required to conduct annual and monthly safety plans outside standard safety requirements. While we support necessary safety measures, this proposal would cause unnecessary challenges for operators who are already complying with local and state requirements.
To oppose Proposal F280-24, Airbnb is gathering volunteers who can submit public testimony by Wednesday, July 3. You can learn more about the proposal and how to sign up to submit public testimony here.
