We’ve had some reports that break-ins at short term rentals are on the rise in our community so we’ve put together some hosting tips to help you be vigilant when it comes to STR break-ins. We wanted to take a moment to remind hosts to be vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect your home and your guests.
Remember:
- Review your listing information carefully, consider removing photos of the front of your home for increased protection
- Make sure your properties have exterior lighting
- Try to make your home appear “lived in” even when empty
- Ensure entry points are well-guarded and hard to get into
- Install exterior cameras and motion detectors
